Cosmic American music and Country performed live straight from the heart
Tim Wakefield sings sweet country blues, with electric slide, glittering harmonica and driving stomp. He captures the spirit of Americana, igniting audiences with his lovingly curated repertoire and compelling storytelling.
Honing his craft since the ripe old age of 7, music is Tim's lifeblood. From playing at his school prom, to setting up a nine-piece touring party band, founding a studio with like-minded musicians, and countless gigs from front rooms to City Hall, Amsterdam to the Algarve. His notable performances include Shambala Festival, Boomtown Festival and Peace in the Park in Sheffield, UK.
One unseasonably warm Spring morning in 1999, Tim dug out an old harmonica his granny had given him and was going through the basics of blues harmonica with a friend in Sheffield's Botanical Gardens. BBC Radio Sheffield were in the park recording, and Tim was broadcast across South Yorkshire later that same day playing "Love Me Do." Soon he was playing guitar and writing his own songs. By autumn that year he was headlining with his band at the famous Boardwalk in Sheffield. He ditched his degree and set his course solely on music.
Music became his gateway into a completely unexpected world of cowboys, bards, ancient poetry hiding in modern verse and mythology mingling with reality: the melody and rhythm of the sound of 20th century America.
Tim's music will take you from the West Coast of California, to the coffee shops of New York, to the mighty Mississippi, via the Smoky Mountains, the Great Lakes and the vast open prairie. You may spend a little time at the border, you may choose to stay in Texas forever, but one thing is for sure: you will get to know this mysterious country a little better with Tim as your guide.
Tim is currently preparing for new local and international tours and working on a new album. Booking inquiries are welcome for solo, duo and full-band shows across Sheffield and the surrounding region.
